Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device, an endovascular approach for treatment of wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms

Treatments need to keep evolving with time. Not only because new sort of ailments keep up lace, but mainly because treatment should be as good as curing you of an ailment completely.

That is what the doctors at the #SNVICON 2019 got correctly.

Dr. Jacques Moret, Professor of Interventional Neuroradiology, NEURI Center, France attended SNVICON 2019 and trained neuro interventionists on minimal invasive procedures in complex aneurysm with the help of Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device, an endovascular approach for treatment of wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms.

A WEB device was one of the highlights of the three day SNVICON 2019 that was attended by 250 delegates including renowned international and national neuro-interventionist.

The web device, has been specifically designed to treat aneurysms. As a part of the conference, two patients were even treated with the device on the second day of the SNVICON 2019 at KEM Hospital. This device is expected to change the scenario in a positive way, in the field of aneurysms treatment.

Dr. Moret said, "We have been using this device in Europe since the past six years and the outcome is very good. Around 60 to 70 per cent complex aneurysms can be treated with this device. This device will play a big role in the future. I am very happy that Indian colleagues are now getting this device."

Thanking Dr. Moret, Dr. Nitin Dange, Organising Secretary of SNVICON 2019 said, "Getting training from a doctor like Dr. Moret is always great learning experience for us. This device will definitely help us treat complex aneurysms, the risk is minimum and outcome is good," said Dr. Dange.

Dr. Anil Karapurkar, Organizing Chairman, SNVICON 2019 Mumbai, said, "We have been treating aneurysm with coils / ballons / stents / a special stent called flow diverter (which costs about 8-10 lakhs). For 2 patients today in the live surgeries, a new device called WEB device was used which has been launched in India today. In India, all the devices have to be approved by the government, and finally it was approved. In India, about 200 doctors are there who are doing this.

He added, "This device was awaited since many years, and some particular aneurysm can only be treated by this device. The cost of it is unknown. Today, the aneurysm treated by this device was diagnosed 4 years ago but we didn't treat it as opting for a WEB device was the best way to treat it. Hence, the patient was called and treated for the same."
